Designed proteins that stay stable in the gut

Abstract

Proteins given by mouth meet acid and enzymes in the gut. We tested 96 small designed binders in simulated gastric fluid (2 hours) and simulated intestinal fluid (24 hours). 22 kept more than 80% of their binding after both steps.
